How do I create a digital portfolio as a PDF?
Create a separate PDF file for each piece of work. A “piece of work” can be a single work, a series with a thematic connection, or a multimedia project. You can submit a total of 16 pieces of work. For more complex projects, 8–10 pieces of work are sufficient.
All works in your portfolio should have a description: title or working title, format, year of creation, and a short summary of the idea, content, and creation of the work (approx. 100–200 words). Explain your role and name any team members if others were also involved in the project.
Instead of uploading videos to the portal, you can also post them on Vimeo, YouTube, or similar platforms. In the PDF, you then provide the link to the video and show several still images from the moving image work.
The easiest way to create a PDF file with images, text, and clickable hyperlinks is with PowerPoint, Keynote, Word, or similar software. Save or export the finished file as a PDF at the end. You can also use a layout program such as InDesign. Choose a landscape format to optimize your digital portfolio for screens.

Film / Animation / 3D Project
Upload your video to Vimeo, YouTube, etc., and include the link in the PDF. Show several still images from your film or animation in the PDF. If available, add drafts, storyboards, and character sheets. Scripts can be sent as an attachment at the end of the PDF.
For 3D renderings and animations, it is a good idea to take screenshots. These can show the result or the most important steps in the creation process. For some projects, it is also interesting to show the program interface of the 3D program.
Photo / Graphic / Poster / Print / Painting
You can hang your photos or drawings on a neutral wall, as if in an exhibition, and photograph them there. This will give you a good impression of how large your works are. Make sure the lighting is good and even. Smaller pictures can also be photographed lying down, e.g., on a table. Make sure to photograph as vertically as possible, not at an angle from the side. Make sure the lighting is good and even!
Arrange your photos well on the PDF page. Individual pictures can have a whole page to themselves. Show photo or poster series in context. Related items (such as a photo or poster series) should also be shown in context.
Augmented Reality / Virtual Reality
Augmented or virtual reality projects that can only be viewed on displays or in VR glasses should be photographed from the viewer's perspective. A VR project that would be viewed in VR glasses is best shown as a screen capture or rendered video in a normal video format (16:9). Alternatively, you can upload a 360° video to YouTube and provide the link.
For an AR experience on a tablet or smartphone, you can ask someone to take an “over-the-shoulder photo” showing the tablet/smartphone and the screen content while someone is holding it.
Installation / Sculpture
Take photos or film the installation or sculpture from different angles. To give an impression of its size, include a viewer in the picture. Make sure the lighting is good and even!
Include a link to a video of the installation and some photos of the installation/sculpture in the PDF. For installations or sculptures, it is also a good idea to include designs, sketches, or documentary photos from the creative process.
Sound / Music / Performance
Upload your recording or sound file to Soundcloud, for example, and include the link in a PDF along with a brief description and, if applicable, a photo of the sound production (tools, workplace, band in the rehearsal room, sound installation, etc.).
Performances or shows are best documented with photos or videos. Upload a video recording to a video portal (e.g., Vimeo, YouTube) and include the link.
Sketchbook
A sketchbook is best photographed lying open. Make sure to photograph it as vertically as possible, not too much from the side. Ensure good, even lighting!
With a sketchbook, we would like to see several pages. Therefore, show a few different pages, all photographed from the same angle.
